Not just into… *over* the mountains, across several coastal cities, and into the ocean (after skidding off an oceanside cliff).
Apparently, neither Galvatron, nor the Quintessons considered designing Trypticon to be able to swim.
It’s true. In the …
It’s true. In the cartoon’s scale, both Metroplex and Trypticon are larger than Fortress Maximus and Scorponok. Both cities were often seen dwarfing gestalts (Bruticus, Defensor…). In toy scale, Fortress Maximus was unquestionably larger, but I think his cartoon size was downplayed to being more towards that of a large human structure (such as a industrial complex, or corporate HQ), as opposed to a city (intentionally designed to quarter “normal-sized” Transformers).
Who’s bigger them …
Who’s bigger them or Getter Emperor or Diebuster or Ideon?

Well I said “the …
Well I said “the fans have judged” only for fun. Yes, Cerebros/Fortress grew larger to become FM’s head, but often the inconsistencies were, overcome by some fictional umptions; for example, Astrotrain possessed a oversizing technology similar to the shrinking technology of Megatron, allowing them to change size(atomically!?) over the mech limits, but this wouldn’t vary the intrinsic bot force. I acquired that information about Metroplex from wikipedia and many fun sites.
Firstly, “the fans …
Firstly, “the fans have judged” suggests we all got together, voted and agreed. Which clearly didn’t happen.
Secondly, I’m not aware of any particular canon comparison between Metroplex and FM. However, you need to factor in the case that both scale AND sizes in the G1 cartoon were inconsistent at best, eg: Astrotrain, Omega Supreme, and also that in the Japanese continuity at least, Fortress (the JP counterpart to Cerebros) grew larger for FM head mode.

Sorry to correct …
Sorry to correct you, but Metroplex and Trypticon were of almost the same size, and they were BIGGER than Scorponok/Lord Zarak and Fortress Maximus, being the former (Metroplex) so much largen than an OptimusPrime sized transformers could enter his head and fit as it was a large, very large operative room, while the latter (F.M.) has a head as tall as an O.P. sized transformers; any reference to disapprove this is based on graphical errors; the funs have judged!
