As a fusion of soul, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll, funk resonated in the communities by stressing unity in a world that was not unified and offered a release to those whom so desperately wanted to lash out.
The Misconception
It has been said that the chains of habit are too weak to be felt until they are too strong to be broken. Since our arrival on these shores, the African American population has been taught that blackness was wrong. We have been so conditioned to assume that who we are and what we produce had no place or value in a civilized society.
