This was a direct parody of Jimmy Dean’s “Big Bad John”. Frank Gallop was a deep-voiced “urbane”-sounding announcer who was Milton Berle’s announcer/foil on his 1947-’48 radio show, and Perry Como’s off-screen announcer for years on his TV variety series. Gallop also narrated the first “Casper” cartoons for Famous Studios/Paramount in the late ’40s.
