A retrospective look at the famous Fort Worth F2 tornado of March 28th, 2000, by WFAA 8 in Dallas. Shortly after 6:00 PM, the storm moved through downtown Fort Worth, killing two people in its wake.

ill neva forget dis day, i was in fourth grade and my teacher said that there was goin to be severe weather but it looked jus fine outside. at six oclock it got ugly outside. then that is wen erthing got outta wack, but the craziest part was the fact that my teacher was talking BOUT IT IN CLASS AND HER HOUSE WAS ONE OF THOSE HOUSES IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD AND HER HOUSE WAS COMPLETELY DESTOYED. SHE HARDLY CAME BAK TO SCHOOL AFTA DAT.

Oh once we had kind of a small tornado outbreak … A few tornadoes touched down and people kept sending in pictures too the news. So I know how people like watching Tornadoes. I just don’t like how they destroy everything. I’m glad Tornado chasers are their to inform us. Each time I turn on the news they say the weather is going to be crazy today. I look on radar and what do I see. Red and yellow coming in.

I think I remember seeing this on the news. I just like watching these kind of storms. I don’t live in Tornado alley but where I live we sometimes get rare Super cells and we get tornadoes and hailstorms. So Tornadoes do touch down where I live. If you move to Colorado this summer you will get so much tornado warnings and watches on T.V it’s hard to imagine.

I had gone to the Bookstore across from Hulen Mall. When I went in it sunny, 15 mins later it was dark and raining like crazy. My mom was calling me telling me to hurry home. I remember getting home and my mom telling me that a Tornado had just touched down in Downtown.
My friend (now husband) who worked just north of downtown stopped by my house after work.He had no idea about the tornado until I told him about it. I never saw him turn so white before. he had missed it by about 3 mins!

I was in 11th grade when this happened. My Husband, then friend, worked just north of where the tornado touched down. He was about to leave his job to go to his night class, his boss had asked him to stay a few more minutes because the weather was getting bad. (no one knew about the tornado) He eventually had to leave and as he was stopped at the light at 7th st he looked toward downtown but couldn’t see anything but dirt and clouds. He later found out that he was looking right at the tornado!

I remember this, I was 8 and my mom forced me in the closet lol. I live about 4 or 5 miles from downtown. I wish I could of seen this tornado! I plan on becoming a tornado chaser when I’m older.
And by the way, what was the WORST North Texas storm? Was it the hailstorm that caused a billion dollars of damage in Fort Worth on May 5th, 1995?

As I posted on another video, we watched the wall cloud and rotation as it built and headed towards Ft. Worth I live West of town.I called my FEMA director at the fire department where I work and told him to sound the sirens and hunker down! We got lucky…this could have been far worse.
