The Issues We Face Today
This is seen in the treatment of African slaves throughout the late 1800s. Every law and institution was built with the purpose of making sure the slave knew he or she was inferior. This inferiority complex still lingers I believe deep within the subconscious mind of the modern day African-American. This is now being played out against same sex couples. Thoughts of suicide, loneliness and rejection are being led in a direction that forces them to lead hidden lifestyles. One of the things that struck me most about the articles and movie was the pervasiveness of this need to hide.
