Why do so many people think that any city within 100 miles of Dallas should be considered part of DFW?
It’s absolutely not convenient, nor sensible for people in Fort Worth to have to go to Dallas for most things, even for concerts. It’s a huge pain for people in Denton to go to Dallas or Fort Worth. People in Weatherford are not close to Dallas. There is no such thing as DFW! It’s a myth!
Every city in the US has a surrounding metropolitan area and it can stretch for miles and miles, hence urban sprawl. Many towns that are considered part of the DFW metroplex were once nothing but cotton fields and dirt farms. As the city has grown more and more people live in the outer ‘burbs.
If somebody lives in Gun Barrel City it’s easier for them to say they live in the DFW area since most people aren’t familiar with all the BFE towns around here.
If you think Dallas is bad with it’s sprawl, look at how much area New York, Chicago, Houston or Los Angeles metropolitan areas cover.
I am not sure exactly what is your point?
There are lots of activities in Fort Worth and I go there for the symphony.
When you live in a smaller town you can not expect big name entertainers to come to your city or town.
They go where the ticket sales will make it profitable for them.
There are things to do everywhere, just not all the things you want to do.
DFW merely means the area around Dallas and Fort Worth

It the DFW metroplex. Concerts go to big cities not little ones. Dallas has close to a million residences, several suburbs do not even add up to that!
