Fort Worth Gay Bar Raided on Stonewall Anniverary
On June 27, 2009, the Rainbow Lounge in Fort Worth was raided by police, who rounded up gay people seemingly at random without reason, bound them with plastic ties, and hauled them away in a waiting paddy wagon. One bar patron was hospitalized with a concussion. Strangely and ironically, this was the fortieth anniversary of the Stonewall riots, which ocurred after a similar raid in new York City and which some cite as the beginning of the gay rights movement.

I am one person …
I am one person that is in Fort Worth and am going to the protest and any event that I can work permitting. Though the word now is that “it was not the police, it was the TABC. In either case someone needs to be held responsible. Since this raid and the protest, I am now going to protest, events, and even to the club armed with the video camera I have at the time, to catch anything I can of behavior that took place that night. If I were the mayor of Ft. Worth or the Governor of Texas I would demand that the COP resign, and the people from the other agency as well.This action would be the same as the NAACP holding a rally or a get together on the anniversary of MLKs death or birth.Then the cops and such doing an inspection and then arresting and beating several people.I understand doing an inspection but for the love god wait a day or two.I can only ume this was done to silence or intimated our community!

I dont doubt that what you say is correct. Wemen always have the hardest time of it in these proffesions and have to prove themselves as hard as gay men do.
However, I feel there is a big difference between your examples and what happened here. I believe this incident was meant to send a message to the Gay community to be afraid. The bar was only one week old for crying out loud.

Although I also doubt the groped thing…you and others are wrong. There has been reported gropings of female officers. Even a third-star general, Lieutenant-General Claudia Kennedy, was groped..I think back in 2000. I think that you are underestimating people…6 Bud Lights..many people obviously never did any research on dram shop cases. I’ve heard of things that make a groping of a male officer seem trivial. Being gay doesn’t make you an idiot, but alcohol in your system has that potential.
