  2. Here’s another …
Here’s another little Maddog detail: Back in the 90’s, I flew on these things all the time. Just about every time, from boarding until beginning the takeoff roll, the ailerons would be skewed, often fully up or down. When starting the roll, the wind would quickly straiten them out. Not any more. Prolly made people a little nervous.

  3. I noticed the flaps …
I noticed the flaps weren’t extended quite all the way. Odd. Perhaps a minor malfunction. It would explain the seemingly zippy landing and full blast thrust reversers.

The MD-80 was actually built for the 80’s and It lasted through the 90’s and it still exsisit today

Looked like a landing on runway 22 if I’m not mistaken (used to work at MSP). Winds must have really been blowing that day if ATC was using just the one runway.

when i was younger, i was on an MD-80, and i was sitting right next to the engine. it broke down and we had to do an emergency landing… scariest moment of my life. it’s still a great plane.

  13. Which one´s better? …
    Which one´s better? Maddog Md-82 or Coolsky´s MD-80 Pro…

  14. I didn’t believe …
I didn’t believe you until I got a chance to compare them on different legs of a journey. Unbelievable difference. In this case, an MD90 in first class vs the back of a 738. WOW! Absolutely smooth, quiet, and a real pleasure in the Mad Dog.

  15. Great video …
Great video excellent sound I love the maddog, flown in it a lot of times, has a very distinctive sound, and I just love the thud of the main gear locking in position after takeoff, it’s steep rate of climb and all the thrust adjustments before landing… all the way until thrust goes into idle for touchdown… all that sensation of relief. Great video pal, keep ‘em coming.

Gotta tell ya…..I love the whine of those Pratt & Whitney Engines, especially when the pilots are flooring the throttle on takeoff

  20. a nice plane just …
a nice plane just not very fuel efficient which will phase them out at 1200 gallons being burned compared to 800 with the 737-800

  21. the mad dogs are …
the mad dogs are great aircraft known for comfort and their sound. i used to be a pilot for delta airlines and i mostly flew the md-88 and md-90 while i was in service. the one you had was laggy because it has a loud roaring backround thats from winds. it kind of disables that sound to seem perfect. nice video.

    AA and Delta are …
AA and Delta are the last major airlines flying the Mad Dog 80s on regular services. More than 20 years since it first flew, the MD-80 is still a surprisingly graceful plane to fly. They will be deeply missed when both AA and Delta replace them with 737-800s (which is VERY soon) so enjoy the MD-80s while they’re still there…
