How to use a reach forklift truck

These are special types of forklift trucks which were designed for working with racked pallet storage. The operator will sit side on to the forks. Instead of a counter-weight, the reach truck has feet which extend out in front which stop the truck tipping forward. The forks are typically situated on the side of the truck. Also, the forks are equipped with a scissor like mechanism (the mast) - extending the forward reach of the truck. Reach trucks work at heights of up to 40ft. The training for reach trucks is generally longer than counterbalance trucks, because of the added complexity of the controls. Forklift training is essential for safe operation of these trucks.
