At that income level, you might consider renting a room in a house. It can keep your expenses low.

You typically allot 25% of your income to housing. That's $125/month, for you. In my town, you won't find anything for that price--not even at the Y.

So, you're looking at putting in at least $300/month for even a bedroom in a house. That leaves $100 for food, transportation, clothing, entertainment and utilities. For a month!
